Well, here we are now at almost 27 full weeks of pregnancy- my thoughts: 'how did this go by so fast?!!!'
A little update for you all since the last time I wrote...
We had our second ultrasound the day we left to come to Winnipeg for Christmas and ALL IS WELL (Thanks God- He's always got your back!). We had to go into the hospital, into the same unit where I will be birthing JR, and receive an ultrasound from Dr. Still (my midwives really wanted me to get to see him in particular- again, thanks God!). Dr. Still is an obstetrician-ultrasonographer and is probably in his late 60's, so the guy knows what he's doing! He was very calm and relaxed which was matching to my sentiments. I knew I had nothing to worry about. He began doing the ultrasound, took some measurements, asked if we already knew the sex of the baby (to which we responded yes, of course), and then proceeded to tell us things like 'he's DEFINITELY a boy', and 'he's measuring larger than average'. My thoughts on that 'larger than average' comment.... nul ;) I have a healthy baby boy=mama's happy.
He then proceeded to check out the 'septum' and proceeded to tell us 'this won't be an issue at all'. YAY! Its basically like I have this little second compartment to my uterus, that MAY have caused issues with JR being in the right position for birth but as the Dr. told us, and also as I have been confessing over my belly every day, he's got tons of time to move around.... I tell my boy everyday to 'place himself in perfect position for delivery- head first and face down'. He's an obedient son :)
Thanks for yours prayers everyone- ALL IS WELL.
Christmas in Winnipeg has been nothing but relaxing and crazy fun. We got to go down to the waterpark hotel in Grand Forks again this year (thanks to Big Ray), and had a blast.... also got to do some shopping for more prego clothes! Again, mama is happy!
I am sitting here on our last day of holidays.... its always bittersweet to leave Winnipeg and my family... more bitter than sweet!!! I'm excited to get in my own bed as my back has been a bit irritated on this bed here at my parents, and to see my cat, and my lovely friends and inlaws. I have mixed feelings about hitting the road running for a VERY busy month at church, though its all great things! And hey- perspective says.... its my last 3 months of work for an entire year :) One last time, MAMA IS HAPPY!!!!

22 weeks.... in front of the Tree!
Hey all :) Koby, Jacob (!!!) and I hope you're all doing great!
Just a quick little update from our 22-week midwife appointment, and a few things I will ask you to pray about:
Jacob/Jake/J.R. (as you can see, we are undecided) is doing fantastic, and so am I (and Koby's not so bad himself). We got to meet yet another of the midwives at our clinic, this time Debbie and she is super lovely. The shortest little Kiwi woman I have ever seen, and also one of the sweetest, kindest ladies, with a gentle touch. She let us hear the heartbeat again, nice and loud, and then tried to rub around to feel his position but I had to pee (or as they say 'empty your bladder') too bad so it was uncomfortable.
She also shared with us the ultrasound results (the medical side) from last week. Long story short, I have what they call a 'rare-shaped' uterus, and it also has a septum inside of it (for those of you who don't know what a septum is, your nose has a septum... its the part that divides your nostrels). Basically the septum in my uterus is a thick tissue substance, that causes baby to be somewhat 'stuck' in one position, causing him to 'potentially' stay in a head-up position. What WE BELIEVE is that no matter what, Jacob WILL move and be in perfect position for birth- head first and face down... and that's what we're praying for.
I will be going for another in-depth ultrasound soon, this time at a prenatal medicine clinic at the hospital, and will see the BEST Dr who will be able to give us more info (or as I like to say/think... more to pray for!). He will be able to tell the position and size of the septum and what hindrances it may TRY to cause for labour. GREAT THING is that baby is in perfect health, and he will continue to grow wonderfully and so will I (I am still swallowing that whole idea of 'me growing'!!!).
I will be able to give more news once we go for this second ultrasound but for now, we believe, and encourage you to as well, believe that Jacob will turn, exactly when he needs to, and will be in perfect position for birth- no C-section over here!!!
Thanks friends and family :) I appreciate you reading and sending your love to me and Koby and our wonderful son!!! This boy has a LOT of love coming to him!
My latest pic in front of the tree is under the 'Pictures So Far' tab on the top right side of the screen... yes, its a real tree!!!
Love you all
xoxo

ITS A BOY!!!!!!
In honor of my SON, I'm writing this blog post in BLUE!!!! Forgive me for the lengthy post!
We happily, ecstatically, found out yesterday at about 1:30pm, that it is 'for sure' a boy! Our first ultrasound was one of the most surreal moments of my life.... let me tell you all about it!
We left early- very early... my fault of course... I SO don't want to be late for things like that! I needed to 'empty my bladder' 2 hours prior to the exam, so since our appointment was at 1pm, I held it in all morning, and had one good (great) 'release' at 11am. Wrong idea. I had to 'empty' again within minutes! But of course, I held it in.
We left our place around 11:45, and got into Coquitlam at 12:20ish. We decided to hit up a starbucks, as I was instructed by my mid-wife, to drink 2 and a half glasses of water (8oz each) half an hour before my appointment (the actual ultrasound place recommends 4 and a half glasses.... AGAIN- thank GOD for mid-wives!!!). I downed a venti ice water in the parking lot and then we went inside where I lied (yes mom, I lied)... the receptionist asked if I had 4 and a half glasses and I smiled and said 'yes' :)
We waited for a bit and then were brought into another area, where Koby was told to wait, while our lovely ultrasound technician escorted me to the room by myself, so she could perform the 'diagnostic tests'... measurements, etc. She then went and looked at another computer, came back and took more pics- said that she got a 'good look' at the sex (at that point I quickly asked her not to tell me before Koby was there... I had a dream that happened!), and then she let me go 'empty my bladder' (and everyone said 'Hallelujah'!), and brought Koby in. When Koby came in, I was already lying on the bed, and she had tilted the screen towards us and it was the most lovely image I have EVER seen. MY SON!!! Although I couldn't tell at that point since it was just his handsome profile, Koby claims that the second he saw his face, he knew it was a boy... he thinks he looks like him!!!
So our tech came back in the room and wasted no time and said 'the sex of your baby is a boy' to which I responded ' I KNEW IT!!!' and looking at Koby's face was a moment I will never forget. He was shocked, but at the same time, looked like a kid walking into Disneyland for the first time. PRICELESS.
She then showed us around our boy! His head, his face (he was hiding his face right behind my belly button), his feet, hands, legs, etc... and even a 360 degree view of his 'stuff'... you can DEFINITELY tell he's a boy! His daddy is very proud :) He was moving around like crazy while we were seeing him and it was so awesome... I could feel him inside me moving and see it on the screen at the same time. He was having a party!
We got some pictures (added to the blog!) and before we even left the office Grandma and Grandpa Martin were calling so we got to tell big Ray that grandson #3 is on his way :) And his name....
JACOB RAY LIESCH. How wise, famous, and wonderful does THAT sound!!!! That's not a question ;)
For those of you who don't know, Jacob is Koby's legal name, so we will legally have 2 Jacob Liesch's living under one roof! Jacob is also the name of Koby's Dad's dad, so this name has some rich history for our family. Ray is for the obvious, my favorite man over 50 on the entire planet, Big Ray/Daddio. We might refer to him as Jacob, maybe Jake... maybe even J.R.... we'll have to see what we think when we meet him face to face!
After getting into the car, I think the reality of having a FIRST BORN SON, set in for us. It was a moment I got to share with my husband, the love of my life, that I will NEVER forget. He confessed that he secretly always wanted a first born son.... thanks God.
We went out shopping for some Christmas decorations afterwards and we both couldn't focus.... Koby honestly seemed high. We called more family and friends, sent some text messages, and bought some more silver Christmas balls, and even added some steal blue to the mix :)
We then had a bite to eat... Koby had a beer and ribs, and mama had a spicy burger with lots of onions :)
All in all, November 22nd 2010 will go down in my history books as one of the best days of my life. I even remember a moment on my own in the exam room, waiting for the tech to get back, where I looked at my grandma's ring on my hand and felt so incredibly, overly blessed to get to continue this rich, wonderful bloodline of Liesch/Jeckel/Martin/Paquette people. We're a pretty great breed, and there's no doubt in my mind, not for one second, that my Jacob, WILL change the world! He's already changed mine and Koby's!
On that note, I have a very active boy named Jacob jumping around in my womb at this very moment... he seems to enjoy himself at 10:30pm every night!
Love you all.... 27 days till Christmas at HOME!!!!
- One VERY happy mama (of a SON... how cool is it that I can SAY that!)
PS... I have to boast on how good.... how GREAT... how exceedingly GREAT God is....
I started yesterday morning off by praying over my baby, as I usually do. I have certain scriptures I am praying over this pregnancy and baby every day, so I started as per usual. I had my bible open, and as I was praying, I started to pray for our heart's desires to be fulfilled when it comes to me going back to work. For those of you who don't know, I wanna be a mommie. Period. With that comes the fact that I want to stay home full time, and also the fact that we need to be wise with our finances sooo..... I felt a little nudge to check out Genesis 22. I THOUGHT it was the scripture that talks about seed, time and harvest so I went to it, and began to read the whole chapter. To sum it up, its the story of Abraham and his son Isaac. Abraham heard from God, asking him to bring his son Isaac as a sacrifice to God. So, Abraham being obedient, got his son ready, and travelled for 3 days to a place where he could sacrifice (kill) his son.... its an Old Testament story.... stay with me here.... and don't think God is a weirdo who asks people to kill their kids... he doesn't! Abraham came to the place where he was to sacrifice his son, and placed his son up on a rock, and suddenly (I love that word in the bible!) an angel appeared to him and stopped him. This angel then showed Abe (my translation) a Ram that was caught in a bush that he could sacrifice in place of his son, and the whole moral of the story is.... Abraham later named the place where he was 'THE LORD WILL PROVIDE'. God saw Abraham's obedience in bringing his son for a sacrifice (an old testament thing they used to do), and provided something else in place. GOD PROVIDES. Period. I LOVE that I was lead to read this chapter when I was praying for whether or not I will 'have to' go back to work. I was reminded that as we TRUST God, no matter WHAT it is we are desiring or actually needing, He WILL provide. That was my morning :) Sorry.... long story- for those of you who need more elaboration, PLEASE email me. I'd be happy to answer bible questions!

Yes baby, Mama can feel you!
Well today marks the first movements felt... well actually, I guess yesterday!
Last night while taking a quick trip to the states with my mother in law, I THOUGHT I was feeling some 'flutters' down low in my belly on the drive down, and just dismissed the feelings.
BUT TODAY.... While sitting at my desk for over an hour working on sending invites to a bagillion kids for youth this weekend, I realized that I was feeling a very repetitive thud-type of feeling low down in my belly, similar to what I was feeling last night.... so to my guesses, I believe its baby!
These thud-like feelings (so many people told me it would feel like 'butterflies' or something like a light rolling/swimming sensation- now, I don't know if my baby's just huge or something, but this definitely does not feel as soft as 'butterflies'!) continued for most of the day today, picking up again tonight while I was resting at the back of the auditorium during a ladies night at church. Its such a cool feeling to think.... I can feel MY kid moving inside of me... HELLO BABY LIESCH!!! MAMA LOVES YOU!!
I have posted our latest pictures- one from 16 weeks and the one below is from today... 18 weeks and counting... I hope those same numbers do not appear in my family-count 18 or 20 so years from now!!! Also this week, I was so so (soooooo) happy to have found some jeans this week that actually fit and aren't too huge or too small, and also a great pair of thick tights (can't see any of that lovely giggly stuff my husband claims to love!). Mama is a happy camper :)
That's all for now friends and family! Miss you all deeply!
ONE LAST ITEM of info for you (this kinda applies to family only but read on my curious friends!).... my wedding ring and engagement band is no longer fitting due to my hands being slightly puffy, mostly in the morning and at night so I just decided to keep them off. I was hunting all weekend for a cheap, fairly similar-looking ring and couldn't find a thing, and then this morning it donned on me- I have my grand-mother's wedding rings that have always been too big on me!!! To my happiness, I tried it on and its fitting great. Still a bit of give for when I actually get to the fat-finger stage, but for now its perfect. I love knowing that my Grandma, in Heaven since I was 3, is still a part of this pregnancy :) She'd love my tummy and be so excited for her great-grandchild!!! Ok, enough with the tears!

Heartbeats
How I LOVE the sound of my child's heart beating!!!!
Today we had a quick visit with the mid-wife (this time with Lisa- she is lovely), and got to hear our baby's LOUD AND CLEAR, and quick (still at 160) heartbeat- music to this growing mama's ears!
We also got some info on local pre-natal classes which we're interested in taking so that's what we'll be researching for the next few months!
Also found out about my weight.... gain.... comes with the territory I guess! Needless to say, I will be raring to go after baby is out.... get fit and get rid of this gain!
Until next week,

17 WEEKS!
Another big week for Little Liesch!
Apparently she/he is the size of a 'turnip' (thank GOD she/he won't look like one when she/he comes out!)... 5 inches long (crown to rump) and weighs about 5 ounces. I have an app on my ipod from 'What To Expect When You're Expecting' that shows me the week by week update of what is happening with baby. In this my 18th week, my uterus is the size of a cantaloupe (I know you all wanted to know that!), and should be around 1 inch from my belly-button (a.k.a quickly taking over my body as I like to put it!). I should start to feel baby moving any day/week now, though I am not expecting it until 20 weeks or so.
BABY'S GROWTH: Baby is beginning to YAWN this week (I KNOW- SOOO cute!), and is continuing with lots of movement- twists, rolls, kicks and punches... she/he will be a fighter/soccer/football/hockey/dancer/singer/acrobat/taker-over-of-the-world/#1 soldier in mama's little army. The nervous system is also rapidly maturing in these weeks. Nerves are forming more complex connections, and the taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing nerves are developing in the brain. Baby can also hear a ton now, so I have been singing the same song (that I conjured up) to it every day (Koby is now leaving the room when its 'song-time'):
'I love you baby
I love you so
I love you baby
I love you so
Oh pretty baby
I love you so
Oh pretty baby
I love you so'
And you can also hear my own rendition of 'you are my sunshine' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby, Baby, baby, ohhh' sometimes coming from my mouth :)
Our next mid-wife appointment is this coming Tuesday where we will get to hear little liesch's strong and wonderful heartbeat again- can't wait!
We are waiting until November 22nd for our first ultrasound, as that will also be the day that we will find out if its a boy or a girl- and yes, you will all know too! That also happens to be the day we will set up our Christmas tree- not sure what else could make a better day! Maybe seeing my family... but only 4 more weeks after that!
kisses and hugs,
the Liesch's :)

The Journey So Far...
Well hello friends and family!
I have always wanted to start a blog, and I figured now would probably be the best time to do so... and the point of it is to keep everyone near and far, as updated as possible as this journey progresses! Allow me first to rewind a bit to the beginning of this miracle.
We found out I was pregnant on Monday, July 26th, at exactly 4 WEEKS long. After experiencing your typical early-pregnancy symptoms (peeing ridiculous amounts, sore and growing boobs, emotional craziness, muscle tightness in my lower abdomen), we took a test and found 2 very bold lines- PREGNANT!
After experiencing a miscarriage back in June, we told our immediate family and a few close friends, then decided to wait a few weeks to tell others. The weeks following were great... I REALLY wanted pickles (as you'll see in the pics!), but besides that, it was an easy 1st trimester. PRAISE GOD- no nausea, no sickness, nothing at all to complain about.. after all, there is a miraculous LIFE growing inside of me!
At 10 WEEKS long, after we had our first mid-wife appointment (for those of you concerned- no, I am not having the baby at home, though I'd be fine with that- we just chose a mid-wife as its a very personal and a more informative way of going through pregnancy for us), we decided to break the news to everyone! Of course being so involved at church, its like we have this MASSIVE beautiful family (we do), and so it was a really fun day. We told everyone at East Campus first, and then proceeded to tell Wildfire which was awesome- about 80 kids that night and they all CHEERED when Koby and I announced it. I then made sure to put it on facebook so that others could know from ME, not from anyone congratulating me!
At 12 WEEKS, we got to hear this little one's heartbeat- what a moment that was. Definitely made it real, as this has been so easy and I definitely do not have 'typical' symptoms! It took our mid-wife a while to find it, and then when she did, it was loud and clear. After a few seconds, she/he made a movement, and then HID! Little bugger! Discipline starts now! And then we couldn't find it again- Gillian (our mid-wife), said that they sometimes try and hide as they don't like the soundwaves (or whatever that Doplar thing does!).
That's the beginning in a nut shell :) So very very excited!
